Formula 1 returns to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix this weekend – historic home to the very first World Championship event 75 years ago – and our Strategist has been evaluating the statistical trends and reviewing the track history to ensure you’re well-informed to make the right decisions in F1 Fantasy.

It’s never too late to join the free-to-play game and compete for the great prizes on offer every race week. New players will need to select five drivers and two constructors within the starting cost cap of $100 million.

Be sure to join the McLaren mini league that is now open for three races between the British and Hungarian Grands Prix. There are exciting new prizes on offer, including the winner receiving an incredible tour of the McLaren Technology Centre.

Keep an eye open for other mini leagues popping up throughout the F1 Fantasy season too, providing you with even more chances to play and win.

Ahead of every Grand Prix, our F1 Fantasy Strategist takes a deep-dive into seven in-game assets – five drivers and two teams – that could contribute to a starring weekend, whether that’s eking out every point or maximising your budget.

The Driver of the Day award has had some meaningful results in recent memory, especially given the significance of this metric in F1 Fantasy (+10 points). British drivers have claimed the last two consecutive results at Silverstone – Lando Norris in 2023 and Lewis Hamilton in 2024. Could we see another Briton take home the award yet again this season?

Catch up on the Austria highlights below and keep reading for more tips. Remember to lock in your teams before Qualifying starts on Saturday, July 5 at 1500 local time (1400 UTC).

Lando Norris ($30.9m)

Lando Norris bounced back to form in Spielberg with a 36-point F1 Fantasy performance and continues to average the most F1 Fantasy points per race by a driver through 11 race weekends (35.3).

The Briton closed the gap to his team mate Oscar Piastri in the World Drivers’ Championship to just 15 points, after a disappointing retirement in Canada the race before.

As stated, the Driver of the Day award has been claimed by Englishmen at the last two British Grands Prix, including when Norris finished P2 at the circuit in 2023. He presents a compelling option with home crowd support behind him if he is in the mix for another race victory.

The McLaren driver has secured a spot on the podium in each of his last two visits to Silverstone and will be hungry to secure his maiden British Grand Prix win this weekend.

Esteban Ocon ($8.3m)

Esteban Ocon reappears on the Strategist’s radar this week after double-digit F1 Fantasy scores in three of the last four race weekends.

The French racer has had a new lease on life with Haas, Ocon currently P9 in both the F1 Fantasy and Drivers’ Championship standings.

Ocon led all drivers on overtakes in Austria with 12 to finish the race P10, and now requires to score at least zero fantasy points in Silverstone (new players should remember that negative points totals are a thing!) for a maximum $0.6m price increase.

The Haas driver is a reliable option for points and cost cap gain this weekend for engaged players.

Nico Hulkenberg ($7.8m)

For the third consecutive weekend, Nico Hulkenberg warrants the Strategist’s attention.

The German racer is in a rich vein of form with game scores of 32, 15 and 20 between Spain and Austria – also securing three consecutive $0.6m price rises in that span.

Most impressively, the Kick Sauber driver came from P20 on the grid in Austria to P9, bumping him up to second for average positions gained per race weekend (3.5) this season.

Hulkenberg continues to remain in the ‘buy’ category this week.

Oliver Bearman ($6.9m)

Oliver Bearman re-enters the thinking for the Strategist for his home race in Silverstone.

The rookie leads all drivers for positions gained (3.6) and overtakes (4.6) per race this season.

Bearman becomes a ready-made replacement for those players who own Isack Hadjar ($6.9m), a driver anticipated to fall in price this weekend after underwhelming recently in F1 Fantasy.

Should Bearman finish in the points on Sunday, he could also be an outside chance for winning Driver of the Day with home crowd support behind him.

Gabriel Bortoleto ($5.1m)

An improving Kick Sauber car has culminated in an F1 Fantasy improvement for Gabriel Bortoleto.

The young Brazilian secured a career-best P8 and 25 F1 Fantasy points, including winning Driver of the Day, in Austria.

The 2024 F2 Champion has improved on his previous race’s F1 Fantasy score in every outing since Monaco.

Bortoleto remains at a friendly price point and should be well set up to rise in price yet again.

Other drivers to monitor: Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton

McLaren ($33.3m)

McLaren continue to set the F1 Fantasy history books alight and will be looking to do much of the same at a historic circuit ahead of their three-race mini league going live this weekend.

The team led by Andrea Stella posted their third score of 100 or more Fantasy points in a single race week this season – the first-time since Japan 2024 (Red Bull) that a team has scored in triple digits on a non-Sprint weekend.

In Austria, McLaren continued to flex their F1 Fantasy muscles, recording their eighth fastest lap in 11 races this season. They have also built on their Qualifying teamwork streak, with both drivers making it to Q3 in every Qualifying session in 2025.

If any asset deserves the “essential” tag in F1 Fantasy this season, it should be McLaren.

Kick Sauber ($7.5m)

A triple up on Kick Sauber would be daring for many, but it also has its merits.

The Hinwil-based outfit are averaging 41 F1 Fantasy points per race weekend over the last three, fourth-best among all teams and good for 6.6 points per $1 million spent – value unmatched in F1 Fantasy in that period.

For a team that was plagued with slow pit stops in the early stages of 2024, the Jonathan Wheatley-helmed team has staged a stunning turnaround in the pit box with the fastest pit stop time in two of the last six race weekends.

At the very least, Kick Sauber should rise in value by $0.6m for the sixth consecutive race weekend and present a fantastic option for lower-budget teams to increase in value.

Other constructors to monitor: Ferrari, Aston Martin
