Williams' Carlos Sainz believes "we need to keep getting better" after a mixed weekend in Singapore, with team mate Alex Albon suggesting "what could have gone wrong went wrong".
Off the back of a podium finish for the first time in more than a decade at the previous round in Baku, Williams was hopeful of another strong performance at the Marina Bay Street Circuit last Sunday.
But both Sainz and Albon missed out on reaching Q3 and were then disqualified from Qualifying due to technical breaches on their Williams cars, specifically around the uppermost rear wing element.
As a result, Sainz lined up P18 for the race and after a late second pit stop for Pirelli's soft tyre, surged back through the order to take the final point on offer in 10th.
"We've all done mistakes this weekend. I didn't do a good job in Qualifying, we changed too many things from FP3 to Qualifying and I was a bit lost," said Sainz.
"Doesn't matter because we were disqualified but we're making mistakes as a team still which is what this year is there for.
"I think in a clean, normal weekend, P7, P8 was on the cards. We finished P10 so was not a big drama and our rivals didn't get a lot of points so we managed to salvage the weekend a bit.
"At the same time, we need to keep getting better. Today, we executed a perfect race, I think we were the only car of the field to move forward with a midfield car, to go through 18th to 10th, when you see how little position variation there's been today I think it's definitely a good day."
Albon, meanwhile, could only salvage P14 having started from the pit lane with suspension modifications in an attempt to learn more about the Williams package for the remainder of the season.
"Pit lane start, cruising around for a little bit, tried to get past one of the Alpines at the start but inevitably didn't really have the pace to do it, had to wait for them to box," he said.
"Tried to hold on and go long but didn't really have the tyres, that was pretty much it. We came out in blue flags, so when we did have fresh tyres we couldn't even use it because we were stuck behind, I think it was Oscar [Piastri].
"Then I had to wait for Oscar to catch the cars in front. It was basically what could have gone wrong went wrong. It was okay, we learnt something. I think I tired a lot of things with the set-up and it didn't work but it was good to cross it off actually."
