Max Verstappen took a hard-earned victory in an eventful Canadian Grand Prix, with the lead changing hands several times amid evolving weather conditions, two Safety Car phases and various incidents across the field.
George Russell led from pole as the race got under way on a wet track, and the Briton held the lead throughout the early stages of the race before Lando Norris surged forwards on Lap 21 to overtake Verstappen, and then Russell, to slot into P1.

There was drama just a few laps later as Logan Sargeant hit the barriers, prompting a flurry of action in the pit lane as the Safety Car was deployed. This saw Norris lose P1 to Verstappen and, with the showers making way for sunshine as the race progressed, the lead switched again during a second pit stop phase.
It was Verstappen though who ultimately got ahead before navigating his way through further dramas to take the win, including a second Safety Car period in the latter stages following a collision between Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
Norris held onto P2 in the McLaren, while Russell claimed P3 following a close late-race battle with Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton. Oscar Piastri crossed the line in fifth, while Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc were two high-profile retirees.
