Gasly proud of ‘unreal’ Silverstone race as he bags Alpine’s best result of the year
Pierre Gasly reflects on a chaotic race at Silverstone that saw the Frenchman score points for Alpine.

Pierre Gasly was left beaming after securing Alpine's best result of 2025, coming home sixth at the British Grand Prix.
The Frenchman didn't put a foot wrong amid treacherous mixed conditions at Silverstone as he stayed on intermediate tyres for the opening laps, a call that proved to be the right one as others opted for slicks after the Formation Lap.
A good getaway saw him run solidly in the top 10 for most of the race, and he eventually picked off Lance Stroll on the final lap to earn his sixth-placed result – something that was a far cry from the rest of his weekend with Gasly finishing the three practice sessions in P19, P18 and P20.
“I don’t really know what to say, it’s our best result of the year and to do it here at Silverstone in these conditions is just incredible,” Gasly said afterwards.
“It was so much fun, I enjoyed so much this race from the first lap to the last one. Battling with Fernando [Alonso], with Lewis [Hamilton], with Max [Verstappen], it just felt a bit unreal at times to be in that position. Especially knowing where we started the weekend.
“We know in these conditions you have to take the risk and we don’t really have anything to lose, we knew it would be a struggle to stay in the top 10 and we took the right risk, pushed to the limit and it paid off. I’m glad to see whenever we have a chance, we show up and we take our chances.”

While Gasly was left beaming after the British Grand Prix, the same could not be said for his team mate. Franco Colapinto was due to start from the pit lane on Sunday, after the team opted to fit his car with some new PU components, following his crash that took him out of Saturday's Qualifying in the first segment.
Coming back into the pits at the end of the Formation Lap, the Argentinean opted to box for slick tyres – only to suffer a driveline issue that left him unable to get the car moving.
“I was really looking forward to today's race, so it was disappointing not to be able to get out there and try to make up for the result yesterday in conditions that opened up a lot of opportunities,” Colapinto said.
“It was not clear what the issue was at the time, which took some time to investigate during the race. All I know is that I could not pull away from the box. We tried a few things to get going again, but in the end, we had to retire the car.
“As a racer, days like today are when you want to be out there and, as we have seen from the others starting further back, there were possibilities to make big gains today.”
Colapinto remains without a score this year, having been parachuted into the team after Miami in place of Jack Doohan.
