F3: Tsolov dominates in Spielberg to close to within one point of the Championship lead

Nikola Tsolov claimed a lights-to-flag victory in Sunday’s Feature Race at the Red Bull Ring.

SPIELBERG, AUSTRIA - JUNE 29: Race winner Nikola Tsolov of Bulgaria and Campos Racing (12)

Nikola Tsolov was at his brilliant best in Spielberg, dominating from start to finish as the Campos Racing driver claimed a lights-to-flag victory in Sunday’s Feature Race.

The Red Bull Junior made a strong start from pole, before driving off into the distance, as his rivals squabbled over the podium places to finish 6.6s clear of the rest of the field.

This victory puts Tsolov to within one point of Championship leader Rafael Camara heading to Round 7 in Spielberg, the TRIDENT driver having finished in P6.

Hitech TGR’s Martinius Stenshorne and MP Motorsport’s Tim Tramnitz produced stunning fightback performances, having started in P15 and P17, to finish in second and third, respectively.

Newly announced member of the Aston Martin Academy Mari Boya was another to charge through the field, the Campos Racing driver going from P14 to P4.

PREMA Racing’s Ugo Ugochukwu recovered from his post-race penalty in the Sprint, which dropped him out of the podium places, to finish fifth ahead of Camara.

TRIDENT had all three cars in the top 10 with Charlie Wurz seventh ahead of Mercedes-backed Noah Stromsted in P8.

ART Grand Prix driver Laurens van Hoepen finished ninth, as Rodin Motorsport’s Callum Voisin rounded out the top 10.
