BETTING GUIDE: Who are the favourites as F1 arrives for the Mexico City Grand Prix?

Formula 1 heads to Mexico City for Round 20 of the championship, but what do the odds say about who might come out on top? Read on to find out...

Odds are provided by F1’s Official Betting Data Supplier ALT Sports Data, are subject to change and are presented in decimal form: for every $1 wagered you would win the figure represented by the odds; so, if Verstappen is favourite at 1.50, you would win $1.50 for every dollar bet.

The odds for the win

Max Verstappen enters this weekend as the man in form, the Red Bull driver having finished in the top two for the last five races, three of which have been as the victor. He averaged 1.40 in that period, significantly better than any of his rivals and has previously taken five wins at Mexico City.

Lando Norris has clinched five victories this campaign, with the most recent one coming back in Hungary. Since then he's taken three rostrums in the last five rounds, which included finishing runner-up in the US last time out.

Oscar Piastri, meanwhile, appears to have hit a wall since Monza, failing to stand on the podium in his last three races and sits just 14 points ahead of McLaren team mate Norris and 40 ahead of Verstappen.

The odds for a podium finish

The two Ferrari drivers delivered their best Sunday performance since Austria last time out in the US. Charles Leclerc found his way back onto the rostrum for the sixth occasion this season, and Lewis Hamilton earned a fourth place for the fourth time in 2025. Leclerc has joined the champagne celebrations in Mexico for the last two years. Hamilton, meanwhile, has tasted glory in Mexico twice before and stood on the podium at six editions.

George Russell endured a tough day out in Texas, settling for sixth place, and it's not looking much better for the Mercedes driver this weekend. The team hasn't won in Mexico since 2019 and Russell hasn't finished inside the top three here. However, he's managed to wiggle his way into the top three in eight races this year, clinching the spoils twice.

The odds for a top-six finish

'The Big Four' teams dominated the top six positions in Texas and if the past three results in Mexico are anything to go by, we are in for much of the same this weekend. Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon are the only drivers outside of non-major teams to have clinched top sixes in the last five editions. Albon has earned five top-six finishes in 2025, with the last one coming in the Netherlands. As for Gasly, he's not been in the mix for a top-10 at the moment, falling outside of that threshold in the previous six rounds.

Yuki Tsunoda produced another strong performance as he fights for a spot on the grid next season. He crossed the line in seventh for his second-best return of the campaign, and his third top-10 in the last five.

Winner 12 months ago, Carlos Sainz will start with a five-place grid penalty after colliding with Kimi Antonelli in the US, while the rookie is an eight-time top-six finisher this term, with two coming in the previous three rounds.

The odds for a top-10 finish

Racing Bulls prodigy Isack Hadjar has pieced together a strong rookie season with eight top-10 finishes, including one podium, but the Frenchman has failed to score points in the last two races. On the other side of the experience spectrum, Fernando Alonso has seven top-10s and Nico Hulkenberg with six. The Sauber veteran finished eighth at the Circuit of The Americas, his first top-10 in seven starts.

Switching back to the rookies, Oliver Bearman has impressed since the Netherlands, collecting three top-10s in five races, taking his total to six in 2025. Another youngster in the form of Liam Lawson is worth a look after collecting five top-10s. The issue for the Kiwi is consistency, with only one arriving in his previous five endeavours.

The odds for who will be fastest in Qualifying

Max Verstappen races into Mexico leading the Pirelli Pole Position award, with seven pole positions. Three of those have arrived in the last four rounds, highlighting his current form. While he's dominated on other tracks, Verstappen has only ever started on the front row once in Mexico despite his five victories. Charles Leclerc found himself on pole here in 2019 and 2023, while his former team mate Carlos Sainz took the first spot the last time F1 was in town.

Lando Norris has scooped the pole position prize on four Saturdays this year, his last one coming in Belgium. George Russell has been the fastest qualifier twice this term, but the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez hasn't been his happiest track in Qualifying. He started second in 2022, behind Verstappen, eventually finishing the Grand Prix in fourth.

The odds for the winning team

McLaren produced the winning car in 80% of the first 15 races on the calendar, but the last four races have produced a different outcome for the Woking team, as they have watched Red Bull celebrate victory in three out of the four rounds since Zandvoort.

Mercedes is the only other team on the grid to have tasted glory this season. On both occasions, it was their senior driver, George Russell, contributing to the cause. The squad last lifted a Constructors' trophy in Singapore two rounds ago, but it's been far longer in Mexico City. Lewis Hamilton last handed Mercedes victory here in 2019.
